Satelitte Recharge Possible?

Posted by

The Philae captured all of our imaginations when it landed on Comet 67P recently. For 10 years it chased the Comet, only to run out of Battery power soon after it landed. It seems that it missed the original landing spot and it ended up bouncing off the Comet and into a ditch, up against a cliff wall. This unfortunately left its Solar Panels blocked. Before the probe powered down, they were able to tilt one of the Solar Panels into the sunlight. Scientists form the ESA (European Space Agency) believe that this will eventually give the probe a chance to warm up, recharge its batteries as it gets closer to our Sun. If it does it will contact its companion orbiter and transmit more data to Earth. We wish them luck and hope the next time, they pack one of our Solar Powered BatteryMINDers along!

Stay Charged!
