Selecting the Correct Amperage for Lead Acid Batteries:

All BatteryMINDers are regulated and will not overcharge, no matter what amp selection you make. It is just a matter of how fast you need to charge the battery. 

  • If you know the battery is charged and in good shape use the 2 Amp setting.
  • If you are charging a large deep cycle battery or more than one battery than use 4 Amp setting.
  • You will probably use the wet/AGM/sealed selection most of the time. Use the Odyssey selection on all named Odyssey batteries at the 8 Amp setting.

    The model charger listed above is my fourth Batterminder. I have three 2012 AGM models that I use on my J.D. 2025R Tractor, J.D. 950R Zero-Turn, and Triumph Speed Twin 1200.

    I just bought a new motorcycle, a Triumph Rocket 3 that is known for being hard on batteries, and I wanted a charger that could handle stronger/lithium batteries, if needed. Hence the 128CEC2: 12V 2/4/8 AMP.

    All four are plugged in at all times. I've never had a vehicle not be ready when I needed it due to a bad battery.

    I'm a retired aircraft mechanic and used to service NICAD batteries for jets and flooded/AGM ones for piston planes. I had learned to use a large charger/analyzer to properly charge, test capacity, and monitor for the weakest cell. I'm very familiar with constant current and constant potential chargers, and I know the work involved in doing it correctly.

    I have purchased many of Battery Minder De-sulphators from VDC. I own 7 of them. I use them on all my trucks.

    I love these desulphators. My battery life has doubled.

    I own a Service Tech / Engineering business, and in many cases our trucks have to drive to service my customers. Some days 3-4 customers a day.

    That turns out to be 5-10 starts a day, and my typical battery life has been 2-3 years.

    I have set it up so I can plug my trucks into a Battery Minder everyday and de-sulphate the battery every night, for about 10 hours.

    My battery life has been round 7 years with regular De-sulphase use.

    I am very pleased with the De-suphate technology in use with the all the battery Minder products.
